The Next Step

About the program

“The Next Step” was founded in 2012 as a collaboration between the Foundation and Aluma Association, with the aim of bridging the worlds of higher education and employment.
The program assists students who are nearing the completion of their studies to find appropriate employment through an academic course that includes practical internship during their studies. In today’s competitive workplace, young people – especially from the social and geographic periphery – lack social and economic networks and find it difficult to integrate into employment commensurate with their education and skills. “The Next Step” is the largest internship program in Israel, operating in 20 academic institutions with the general population, Arab society, Haredi society and students with disabilities.

Our partners in the program are the Aluma Association, JDC-Israel, the Jewish Federation of New York and the Ministry for Social Equality.

Goals

  1. To integrate academia graduates into employment that suits their education and skills, by assimilating a culture of internship in Israel.
  2. To create up-to-date and rich academic studies, adapted to the 21st century and to the changing workplace.
  3. To form social and economic networks for young academics.
